We Tried the YGU BOYZ BOOST Pre-roll, Here's Our Honest Review

We don't just stock products at Highend and hope for the best. Before anything goes on our shelves, we try it. So when the new YGU BOYZ BOOST pre-roll landed with us, we sparked one in the lounge and paid attention.

Here's what we found:

First impressions

The packaging gets your attention. The die-cut holographic pouch is shaped around the YGU BOYZ cat mascot, wide-eyed with a big grin, claws out, biting down on a piece of steak, gold coins flying everywhere. It's a lot, in a good way. Eye-catching without trying to explain itself. Inside is a black protective tube, and inside that is the joint itself: a 1-gram pre-roll with a red branded tip that reads YGU BOYZ in heavy streetwear script.

It looks the part. We were more interested in what happened after we lit it.

The strain: Goldrush (Sativa)

We went with Goldrush for this review. Full-spectrum infused, premium indoor flower, terpene-enhanced. The back of the pouch tells you the strain name, category, and batch code. No guessing, no mystery. That transparency is something we always look for when we decide what to carry at Highend Bangkok.

The burn

Even from the first light. No canoeing, no uneven run, consistent draw all the way through. The ash came out light grey to near-white, which you can see in the photos we took in the lounge.

Worth a quick note here because this comes up a lot in Bangkok's cannabis scene. White ash gets used constantly as a marketing term, stamped on products whether it's actually earned or not. Ash color is affected by how the flower was flushed during the grow, moisture content, rolling density, and paper type. It's not a single reliable quality indicator on its own.

What it can suggest, when it shows up naturally the way it did here, is that the flower was properly flushed and well cured before rolling. That's a good sign. But we'd rather you understand what it actually means than take it as a blanket guarantee. Judge a pre-roll by the draw, the flavor, and the effect. The BOOST holds up on all three.

The taste

This is where Goldrush genuinely surprised us. The flavor is unlike anything else we've tried in the pre-roll format in Bangkok. It comes through clearly from the first draw and stays consistent rather than fading out halfway the way cheaper pre-rolls tend to do. Smooth throughout, no harshness, nothing that makes you want to put it down.

Terpene flavor is personal so we'll leave the specific description loose and let you come find out for yourself. But it's good. Noticeably good.

The effect

Energizing and uplifting. A pleasant buzz that settles in without knocking you sideways. We smoked this one in the Highend lounge and kept the conversation going without anyone dissolving into the sofa, which for a sativa is exactly what you want.

The infused format adds a depth to the effect that a standard roll of the same flower wouldn't have. It's noticeable and it's the main reason the BOOST format is worth the price difference over a regular pre-roll.

The one thing we'd change

It's so good you wish it was bigger. That's genuinely our only note. One gram goes fast when you're enjoying it this much, which is either a complaint or a compliment depending on how you look at it. We'd spark another one immediately, and that probably tells you everything you need to know. A bit about the BOOST format

For those unfamiliar with infused pre-rolls: the difference from a standard pre-roll matters. Regular pre-rolls are flower, rolled. Infused pre-rolls start with flower that's been processed and then enhanced with additional cannabinoids and terpenes before rolling. The result is a more deliberate effect profile and a more consistent burn.

The quality of the base flower still matters though. A good infused pre-roll starts with good flower. BOOST uses premium indoor, which you can verify from the grow method, the batch labeling, and how it actually smokes. It holds up.
